Samina + Jonade :: Engagement :: Old Town Orange

Wait no more! I know…I’ve been Facebook posting sneak peeks all week, but the time has finally arrived to unveil Samina & Jonade’s FULL E-Session. This one packs a punch! A punch of style, glamour, & personality…so hold your hats and come along with us as we take a stroll through Old Town, 1960’s style with this seriously adorable & stylish duo…Samina + Jonade.

When Samina & Jonade first came to me with the idea of doing a themed engagement session, I didn’t know what to expect but I was excited.  Samina has always been obsessed with movies and fashion from Hollywood’s Golden Age…her favorite movies are black & white films; Casablanca and It Happened One Night.  She just loved that time period and how everything was so romantic, timeless, sexy & understated.  Jonade also wanted to pay homage to his late grandfather who passed a way a few weeks ago.  He wanted to have images that would always remind him of his grandfather, so he too found a blazer and tie that was similar to his late grandfathers. Everything about these two was screaming Vintage, 1960s, and Classic…

I’ll admit, at first, I didn’t think it was going to be that hard.  However, after reviewing sample session links Samina emailed me, chatting about the look & feel she wanted to achieve, Jonade’s grandfather, and doing my own research…I realized I was in for a challenge (You know me…I love me some challenge! Covertly, I think I need it to push myself to higher grounds). We actually had to reschedule the session date a couple of times, just to ensure we were completely prepared and ready with all the props and locations we needed in order to do this session justice.  I wanted to hit the nail right on the mark,… after all, Samina and Jonade were trusting ME to ‘portray their story’ through my images.  So I set out to do just that, and decided to write them a storyline of my own and I called it ‘Samina & Jonade’s Timeless Journey’ (I don’t know when I turned from photographer to writer…to director, but it was sure FUN! I secretly confessed to Manish as we walked from one location to the next…”OMG Baba, I’m having so much fun, I feel like we’re directing a movie LoL, we should totally do this more.”)

Well Samina & Jonade… I hope these were everything you imagined and MORE… You looked stunning! (Shoutout to Lulu Nguyen of Dolled Up By Lulu for putting together an amazing look for Samina’s Hair & Makeup).  I’m counting the days for your wedding; just a few short weeks away now! Enjoy!

Next up is look #2…a very Nautical themed one…which I’m not sure was discussed much, as we collectively put so much time into getting the Vintage look together, but I’m pleasantly thrilled with how it turned out.  Jonade is originally from England and wanted to incorporate some British accessories with his look, so he threw in a bowtie, Samina added some highwaisted pants into the mix and there you have it!  Believe it or not, these two are naturally very cheesy people (and they’ll admit to it) but the last thing they wanted was a cheesy engagement session, so they put me on duty to guide them in the right direction.  Nez & Sami… I hope you LOVE LOVE LOVE these as much as I do!
