Today, I have for you Parts 2 & 3 of Pooja & Vinay’s wedding festivities. The peace and cleansing ceremonies (Graha Shanti & Pithi) are usually held at the bride & groom’s respective homes prior to the wedding. A puja is performed to bring peace within the household for the Graha Shanti ceremony, and then they’re pasted with ‘haldi’ (turmeric paste) as part of the Pithi and beautification process.
Now, in Pooja & Vinay’s case A) this ceremony wasn’t going to happen in their respective homes for obvious [ahem guest count] reasons, and B) I wasn’t sure how much MORE beautiful these guys could get from marinating themselves in turmeric…after all, they were glowing before all the pasting began…see for yourself!
I have to mention one of my favorite parts about Pooja’s look. I absolutely LOVED that she was adorned with mini flower garlands rather than jewelry since traditionally, this is what women wore during their Pithi ceremonies. She looks stunning doesn’t she?! And that colorful lehenga from Sequinz (Baroda, India) called for a double take! Bursting with vibrance and beautiful brocade work, it was a perfect fit for the occasion. I think I failed to mention it within the Mehendi Blog Post, but it’s hard to miss…isn’t that Blue Sapphire ROCK just gorge?!! Oh Em Gee Vinay…this is unlike anything I’ve seen before. You get a really HIGH five for that one!
Ok, so let’s kick off this post with Pooja’s Graha Shanti & Pithi. Ceremony performed by Pandit Vipul Jani…and can I tell you how much I admired this Pandit! He was so organized, timely, and authentic in the way he performed all the ceremonies. Most of all, as a photographer, I respected and regarded him highly because he voluntarily stepped aside (out of my frame) after performing certain parts of the ceremony, just so I can get the perfect shot! Who does that?? HE DID… and that’s why he’s officially on my AWESOME list. Happy Tuesday everyone & enjoy the post!! (Vinay’s Graha shanti & Pithi can be found about halfway down.)
:: In case you missed Part 1 from yesterday; here’s the link to their Mehendi Sangeet Celebration ::
I look over to find my dear Pooja snapping away…capturing her own moments, and think Huh? But you have ME silly! She tells me it’s all for an app everyones taking pictures for. Many of her guests and cousins were also capturing photos on their iPhones. They were all invited by Pooja and Vinay to join their ‘Wedding Party‘ iPhone app. What’s that you ask? Well it’s a neat new app that allows you to invite all of your guests to download the app and take photos throughout the celebrations. Everyone invited can then see a real time instant timeline of all the photos (kinda like Facebook’s News Feed). Fun eh?!! Pooja & Vinay even took it a notch higher for some extra fun and held a little contest to see which side (the Bride’s side guests or the Groom’s side guests) shot the most & best pictures.
Vinay’s Graha Shanti and Pithi ceremony took place simultaneously…at the same time…in the very next ballroom! In turn, Manish & I had to split up for the entirety of the morning. So here you have Vinay’s side, shot from start to finish completely by my very own, Manish!
On a side note, it happens ALL the gosh darn time…where Manish and I say the same exact thing at the same time, or we’ll finish each other’s sentences, or we’ll be thinking the same thing in the very same moment…and interestingly enough, these images proved no different. As I culled through the images, I noticed the eerie similarities from Vinay’s Pithi against all the images I captured from Pooja’s Pithi and well, I guess you can see for yourself below…LoL. The angles, moments, and style is identical. After all, producing consistently great images is a MUST! Without consistency, a potential client is left wondering whether their wedding images will look anything like the one’s in a photographers sample albums. So it makes me ecstatic and giddy to see that I’ve rubbed off on Manish in this way. It’s evident he shoots with my style in mind and more so just compliments my eye for creativity. I can’t ask for a better teammate, second shooter, and best friend out of my husband!
I’m SO sorry for the tangent, but we’re back to the man of the week…Vinay! Vinay’s an east coaster, and so were most of the family and friends in attendance. Vinay must be a popular cat; he had fun group of guys & cousins that together made the grooms entourage.
Evidently, Pooja’s pithi was a stroll in the park compared to how hard Vinay was hit with the paste. She clearly got off easy with having only her arms and feet pasted. Poor Vinay was marinating from head to toe in turmeric & spices LoL. His nose & ears were even mobbed by Malini & Nimisha (both of his sisters…rightfully so, as the grooms sisters should have!!) What a trooper!! Ceremony performed by Pandit Kaushik Patel. Happy haldi pasting…
